6. Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Town Planner with 3+ years of experience in urban planning and exposure to construction or project management. The role includes supporting spatial planning, rezoning applications, development applications, compliance with municipal and national frameworks, and coordinating aspects of implementation with built environment professionals and contractors.
6.1 Key Responsibilities:
Assist with development applications (rezoning, subdivisions, consent use) and municipal approvals.
Conduct spatial assessments, site visits, and feasibility studies.
Contribute to local development plans, land use planning, precinct plans, and land use schemes.
Support project coordination between planners, engineers, and construction teams during planning and early project implementation phases.
Monitor planning project timelines, report on progress, and flag risks or delays.
Participate in stakeholder engagements and public consultation processes.
Assist with compliance to SPLUMA, municipal by-laws, and environmental legislation.
Prepare planning reports, presentations, and documentation for council submission.
Prepare reports and presentations for internal and external use.
6.2 Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Town and Regional Planning or Urban Planning
(SACPLAN-registered or eligible).
• 3+ years of relevant experience in planning, including exposure to
construction or project implementation environments.
• Working knowledge of SPLUMA, municipal frameworks, and development
application processes.
• Basic understanding of project lifecycles and infrastructure planning.
• Proficient in GIS, MS Office, and project tracking tools.
• Excellent writing, coordination, and communication skills.

Requirements
